Today we had our annual wellness screening at work. I knew it wasn't going to be pretty, and I was kinda right. Here's my report card (I'm not going to give exact numbers, just risk levels):
Total Cholesterol: Low risk
HDL Cholesterol: High risk (HDL is too low)
LDL Cholesterol: Moderate risk
Cardiac risk ratio (Total/HDL): Moderate risk
Triglycerides: Low risk
Glucose: Low risk
Blood pressure: Way high
Body Fat: Moderate risk
BMI: Moderate risk
Some of this doesn't come as a surprise. My parents both have hypertension, so I'm genetically predisposed. With work stress at "woah" levels and a diet of garbage with little exercise, I guess I had it coming. The nurse said if the blood pressure didn't come down soon, I needed to see a doctor. I don't want to be a 28 year old on blood pressure medication. Time to hit the trails a little harder.
